Monthly Archives: April 2010

We’ve been practicing a lot lately and working hard to keep all the good peeps of the world entertained.  Gotta say we are all pretty surprised at how quickly the live show is coming together.  I’m pretty stoked and I want to know how y’all gonna respond to the live power of the DUM.  We’ll just have to wait and see now though…

In other news there are new pictures in the pictures section and on the Facebook.

Kickin' It

AND!!! …(insert dramatic pause here)… We did a cover of the up and coming hit “Airplanes” by B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams.  Well, actually David and Mahreen did the cover and Scott Miller was kind enough to work his mixing voodoo on it.  And… well what else can I say?  IT’S AWESOME! WATCH IT! RATE IT! FRIGGIN’ SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL SO I DON’T HAVE TO KEEP HOUNDING YOU PEOPLE WHEN WE PUT UP VIDEOS!

And props do David for using his Slinky.  If you guys only knew what that Slinky means to him. ; )

Mini- Vacation and Awesomeness

Uploaded some new pics from our mini-vaca to Orcutt Burgers and Crosby’s.  The burgers were pretty awesome but the WINGS RULE!  Highly recommended if you are going to be in Incline Village.  Be sure to get them double-dipped.

Also, if you get a chance I started reading this really awesome book, Practicing, by Glenn Kurtz.  If you are a guitar player or any type of musician who has had formal training you really should check this book out.

Having gone to Musicians Institute in Hollywood I’ve had my fair share of just sitting and practicing and practicing and practicing with my instrument; and to be quite honest every now and then I get really burned out on playing guitar.  It’s hard for me to take something that I love more than words can express and then try to unravel all the mysteries of it.  All the romance and intrigue goes right out the window and some days I just walk right by it and try to ignore the nagging sense of guilt that comes with not playing it.  But then there are the days when I lose track of time and even my hands while playing the guitar and I fall head-first into this wonderful cacophony of notes and rhythms that takes me to a place where I’m free; without a care in the world.  And that’s the kind of thing that this book talks about.  It’s not about “how to practice” or “what to practice;” it’s about the experience of honing your craft and becoming all that you are meant to become as a musician.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Hey Is For Horses

And pictures are for websites.  Gonna be uploading a bunch of content soon so stay tuned kiddies.  In the meantime you can look at Marsh.  Every time you forget to come back and check on the new happenings this is the look Marsh gets on his face.  Let’s not let him do that too much.  It might get stuck like that.

Love and Giggles,

April all ready?

This last week was great! We took a couple days out to hit up some tasty burgers and wings. We also spent a night wandering around Reno Nevada. Now that the second record is done and we were able to stretch our legs a little, we are planning to hit the ground running. While Scott Miller is mixing the record, we are putting together a pretty awesome live show. We plan on having a CD release show/party some time in early June. We are also planning on playing a lot this summer; so if you can’t make it to the release show, don’t worry. Within the next month or so we will also put up a track from the new record for you all to hear along with some new videos. I hope that everyone is doing well and we will see you soon.

-David Unger

We are still hard at work getting a live show and some goodies for you all set up but tomorrow we are taking the day off to celebrate.  Yes, kiddies we are trekkin’ to Crosby’s to have some of the best wings ON THE PLANET EARTH!  And since we know we can’t all of you (actually, any of you, my car is not that big) with us we will be sure to bring along a camera to catch the action.  Mr. Miller is hard at work on the mixes.  Good luck and god-speed to that man.

If you happen to be in Incline Village tomorrow evening hit us up ad say what’s up.

Love and great food to all,

We are DONE! …with recording, that is.  Now, we move on to the mixing and mastering stage.  Mr. Scott Miller has finished mixing the first song, titled “I Do Not Know.”  What did we think?  We both gave him a hug! Seriously, it sounds phenomenal.  I would not hesitate to put up against anything else that’s out there today.  Also, we finished up the rest of the little minor details and overdubs and what-have-yous today;. so once the album is mixed, mastered and duplicated, IT’S YOURS!  This is a really exciting time for everyone in D.U.M. so we hope you all stay tuned in the next few weeks because, once this thing is out we are hitting the ground running.  There’s gonna be some Youtube hilariousness, LIVE SHOWS, and maybe even some unplugged ear candy. (if I can convince David to do it, keep your fingers crossed, he’s a busy guy)

In closing I will leave you with a picture of the man himself (Scott Miller) at work on the record.

Love and thanks for all the support,
