Ryan Seacrest recently congratulated David Unger for winning his cover contest for Drake’s “Hold on We’re Going Home”. Unger placed 1st out of 26 contestants in a voting contest that lasted over 5 weeks. Because of the success and vigor of the competition, Unger grabbed the attention of YouTube, ABC’s new show “Rising Star”, some reputable music producers, and a new team of people that are eager to aid him in his music career.
A collection of transformative music videos on Unger’s DavidUngerMusic YouTube channel has gathered recognition of industry recording artist all across the board, such as: B.O.B, Niki Minaj, Katy Perry, Far East Movement, Ke$ha, Zooey Deschanel, La Roux and most recently Pharrell Williams. YouTube also reached out to Unger to produce a video and music content for Coldplay for their hit “Paradise”. Through Unger’s YouTube momentum, he also gained national acknowledgement on VH1’s “Top 20 Video Countdown”, an endorsement through Jim Dunlop, and local Bay Area media/news coverage. Through these videos and celebrity endorsements, David Unger’s YouTube channel DavidUngerMusic has accumulated well over 3 million views and 12,000 subscribers.
David Unger is a California Bay Area native, and has been playing shows and recording music since his early high school years. His passion was reinforced when he began winning local awards from SF Bay Area competitions. Unger later received a B.S. degree in Audio Engineering from “Ex’pression College for Digital Arts”. During his time at Ex’pression, he received support and guidance from the President of the school Spencer Nilson and Grammy award winning producer Jack Douglas. Unger has also dedicated time to helping at-risk youth at Oakland’s Rainbow Teen Center (DACA), teaching music and video.
Unger previously released 2 albums “Stirring up the Echoes” and “Forever Never Maybe” which were played across the United States and charted on the New Music Weekly charts. Unger’s tracks made it up to 26 on the Top 40 Main Chart, 33 on the Hot 100 Singles, and 11 on the Top 30 Indie Chart. The success of these singles enabled him to join the Recording Academy where he is currently active in the music community as a voting member. Unger was invited to play a show for the Grammy Recording Academy Association’s Fall Kick-off in 2011 where he played a set to initially start off the Grammy’s preliminary events for the Grammy’s Season.
David Unger is now working on a new EP, and just finished recording a single “Hipshot” which is scheduled to be debuted by Ryan Seacrest, and YouTube in the Summer of 2014. Seacrest will also be releasing an interview in conjunction with “Hipshot’. In addition, YouTube has taken interest in aiding Unger’s future musical releases by promoting them on their social media platforms. Unger is currently putting together a live show with his band to tour the west coast of the United States for the Summer of 2014, and he is also looking forward to building relationships in the music community.
